Live Video Broadcasting Software Video conferencing is possible through live video broadcasting software. Live video broadcasting software enables video to stream to remote computers over Internet connections. Presenters may host video conferences for training, seminars, marketing and stakeholder meetings, or any other event that would normally occur via a face-to-face encounter. StreamBASE is a newly launched web application that enables smooth, seamless interactions between presenters and meeting participants via a live video broadcast.

EyePartner StreamBASE offers live video broadcasting software that supports streaming video conferencing along with several additional amenities. StreamBASE streams video over standard Internet connections to meeting participants and enables interaction via voice, text chat and file exchange.

Administrative users and presenters have elevated access rights within the StreamBASE software. Administrative users and presenters are able to invite participants, manage users, create and manage meetings and perform additional tasks within the application.

How Users Access StreamBASE

Once a video conference is scheduled on by the presenter, each participant may register for the event by first creating a user account on the site. If the presenter sends invitations to the participants, instructions for registering on the site are provided in the invitation. However, users may also navigate to and register from the homepage. The new user will click the “Sign Up” link under the Login box to register for a new account. The “Account Information” page opens.

The new user creates a user name and enters it into the first field. Next, the new user clicks the “Check if Username is Available” button to make sure the selected name is not a duplicate. Once the new user’s username is verified as unique, they may enter a password by typing the password into the corresponding input box. The new user then confirms the password by retyping it into the “Confirm Password” input box.

Next, the new user supplies a valid email address in the “Email Address” input box. They, then, select their time zone from the “Time Zone” dropdown box. The new user types their first name and last name into the corresponding input boxes, and then they enter the validation code provided near the bottom of the page into the “Validation Code” input box. Once the form has been completed with the user information, the new user clicks the “Register” button to send the form to the StreamBASE server. The new account is created and a verification email is sent to the email address provided in the form. The verification email contains a link to click to activate the account. Once the new user has clicked the link, the account is activated. A URL is also provided in case the click-able link does not work, as some email programs will not correctly display click-able links in the body of emails.

Also in the email is a link for the new user to test their StreamBASE connection, and install any additional plug-ins required for their browser. In addition, included in the email is the user’s username and password. The new user simply navigates to the homepage and logs into their account with the username and password once the browser plug-in is installed.

A “Forgot Password” link is provided under the Login box on the StreamBASE homepage. If the user forgets their password, the application will send the password to the email address they provided when creating the account.

The Manage Meetings Page

When the user logs in, they will see the “Manage Meetings” page. A scrollable calendar is displayed. Each day that a meeting is scheduled is highlighted on the calendar. Clicking on the day within the calendar will display the meeting scheduled for that day. If the user has administrative privileges, they may create, edit or delete scheduled meetings. Clicking on the “New Meeting” button in the “Manage Meetings” page to create a new meeting.

Create a New Meeting

When the presenting user clicks the “New Meeting” button, the “Create New Meeting” interface opens. The presenter types a name for the meeting into the “Meeting Name” input box, and then provides a description for the gathering in the “Description” box. The presenter selects the “Begin Time” and “Estimated Duration” for the video conference. The presenter then clicks the “Event Type” dropdown box and selects “Live Broadcast” to create a live broadcast video conference. The presenter then clicks the dropdown box labeled “Presenter,” and then clicks on the name of the presenter for the new meeting. Finally, the presenter may check the checkbox next to the “Allow Guests” option to allow participants other than those invited to the meeting. The presenter clicks the “Submit Changes” button to create the meeting on the server.

Inviting Participants

The next step is inviting participants to the newly created meeting. In the “Manage Meetings” interface, click on one of the scheduled meeting dates to open the meeting occurring on the selected day. At the bottom of the form, click the “Invite” button. The “Invite Users” form opens. The “Invite Users” form displays all possible participants for the selected meeting. Check the checkbox in front of each participant’s name to invite them to the meeting. Click the “Invite by Email” to send an invitation to each selected participant via their email address. When the button is clicked, a pop-up window appears. The presenter will need to enter the email address of each participant in order to initiate the email invitation. Click the button labeled “Invite” to send the emails to selected participants. Once the invitations have been emailed, click the “Close” button to close the window.

Viewing User Content

From the presenter’s interface, click the “Content Page” option. A list of users appears. Click on one of the listed users to view the files and other content associated with that participant. This interface allows the presenter to provide users with meeting materials prior to the meeting. The presenter may add files, as well as create new folders, in the Content Page. In addition, the presenter may upload files to their own user area.

Setting Permissions on Presenter Files

The presenter is able to set permissions on their uploaded content files and folders. Permissions may be set to “Private” or “Public.” The presenter clicks on the file or folder, and then clicks the “Set Permissions” button at the bottom of the page. A dialog box opens that contains the file name and a “Permissions” dropdown box. The presenter clicks the dropdown box and selects “Private” or “Public” and then clicks the “Submit” button. Permissions are set for the file or folder.

The Users Page

The presenter is able to manage users via the “Users Page.” Presenters are able to add users, edit users, change user passwords, delete users and change users status from “Viewer” to “Presenter” (or vice versa) within the “Users Page.” The presenter may also change a user account to “Inactive.”

Surveys Page

The presenter also may access the “Surveys Page” to see survey results for each participant. In the “Surveys Page,” simply click on the user’s name to view their survey results. In addition, presenters may add, edit or delete a survey from within the “Surveys Page.” Surveys are an interesting tool that presenters may use to stimulate conversation and elicit feedback during a video conference.

Reports Page

The “Reports Page” in the presenter’s interface allows the presenter to access several reports about scheduled video conferences. Presenters may see the status of their monthly subscriptions. In addition. presenters may view graphs of monthly traffic, daily reports, space used and reports about the application through this page.
